Hidden inside a hutong, called Capital Spirits首都酒坊, is the world’s first bar dedicated to Baijiu and craft liquor.

Only has 30 available seats, it is always full with liquor lovers.

The founders Bill Isler and Simon Dang got inspired by the author of Baijiu, The Essential Guide to Chinese Spirits, Derek Sandhaus, and determinate to let more people know about Baijiu, the Chinese liquor.

For those who taste Chinese liquor for the first time, can try Rice Aroma, Light Aroma, Strong Aroma and Sauce Aroma one by one till you have found your preferred type of aroma. If you are a curious person, try their Infusion Flight, is the Chinese liquor mixed with waxberry, ginseng, cinnamon, garlic, chili and Sichuan pepper.

The top 6 cocktails on the list

Baijiu Sour 白酒酸

A classic sour made with a refreshingly light rice-based liquor with a bit of Cointreau, lime and lemon juice. Taste a bit like the mojito. If you don’t have sweet tooth, this will be too sweet for you.

Ma-La Rita 麻辣丽特

A Margarita soaked with Sichuan pepper. First taste is like spicy, then bitterness and sweetness.

Paper Crane 千纸鹤

Luzhou Lao Jiao liquor (38 -52°) plus Aperol and Amaro Montenegro, with a few drop of lime juice.

Coco Maotai Cream 茅台椰奶

Hutong Hound 胡同狗

Mixed of Erguotou (around 50°), Guilin Sanhua Liquor (around 32-55°), Arctic soda (bei bing yang北冰洋) and Bitters. Surprise that it doesn’t have the strong smell of alcohol, is just like a glass of juice.

Beijing Bull 北京公牛

Erguotou soaked with ginger, mixed with ginger ale.

If you are daring enough, try snake liquor!
