In a big city like Beijing it can be difficult to find a pool to hang around when the temperatures are rising and you wish yourself away on a beach or a pool. We have been on a journey for you and discovered the Beijing best outdoor pools that will most certainly bring you a piece of holiday.

 
1 Splash Recreation Club (CITIC Hotel Beijing)

 

The CITIC Hotel offers a pool experience with an indoor and outdoor pool, a sand beach volleyball court, a playground for children, a poolside bar and a restaurant.

Sun loungers are available and it is less crowded than some other more popular outdoor pools. It is close to the airport so we recommend to get a cab there.

Opening hours: Mo-Sat 10 am – 10 pm

2 Phoenix Town

 

Due to its large size it is suitable if you are looking for the chance to do a proper swim. You will find a 50 meters length of open-air swimming pool in the Phoenix City Apartment, which is located in Sanquanqiao northeast corner.

Opening hours: 12pm- 8pm (until end of September)

Entrance Fee: RMB 100 1-day-pass and for RMB 500 whole-summer-pass

3 Liuliang Swimming Pool

 

Just on the south side of the Summer Palace and next to the Kunya River is a huge outdoor pool which offers two different pools of which one of them is very convenient and safe for children.

Due to its large size it is suitable if you are looking for the chance to do a proper swim. Enjoy the beautiful green environment of 10.000 square meters, including a small green island and beautiful bridges.

Opening hours: daily 12pm – 7 pm (until August 31st)

4 Tuanjiehu Park Swimming Pool

 

It is in a convenient location in downtown nearby Sanlitun and easy to get to. The pool size itself is rather small but big enough to dare a jump into the cool water and have a swim.

Opening hours: daily 10:30am – 8:00 pm (from 1st June until 31st August)
Entrance fee: RMB 80 on weekends and RMB 60 on weekdays (children under 1m are free)

5 The Emperor Hotel Swimming Pool

 

The exquisite Emperor Hotel is a small boutique hotel in the center of Beijing. The rooftop pool overlooks the Forbidden City, but don’t expect it to be big. In fact the pool is very small and only to cool down your inner temperature.

6 Chaoyang Ocean Beach Park

 

Miss the beach? Well, the Chaoyang Park Ocean Beach is the closest you get to a beach in Beijing. Along with it does not only come the beautiful atmosphere, with views of Beijing CBD skyline, but also a variety of activities such as beach volleyball.

They will open on the 2nd July 2016 until the end of August. When we called them on the 27th June, an employee said they wouldn’t know the new admission prices and opening hours until the end of this week.

7 Baolian Sports Park Swimming Pool

 

The swimming pool in Baolian Sports Park is the best possibility if you are looking to go for a serious swim. But there is not only the 25 meter pool to do some exercise, it also offers a play pool for kids which isn’t deeper than 150 cm.

8 Qingnianhu Park

 

The Qingnianhu Water World was recognized as one of the top 9 water theme parks in China alongside the Water World in the Water Cube and Sun Park. It’s very close to the second ring road and has multiple water slides, pools and sprinklers.

Opening hours: 9 am – 10pm (June-September)

Entrance Fee: RMB 30 (for children under 1.3m RMB 20)

9 Dynasty Garden

 

The Dynasty Garden is a compound outside in Shunyi and very popular to the Expat community. Last year the day-pass was RMB 150, but they make also a decent whole-summer-pass deal.

10 Commune by the Great Wall


This will take you a while to get there, since it is outside of Beijing. Unfortunately the pool is only for guests, but if you planned to treat yourself for a day or two, you can book a night in one of the very beautiful hotel rooms and enjoy the outside pool.
