Secret places to beat the heat

It was a lot of sweat these days, but unfortunately, according to the weather forecast, the temperature will spike to 37 – 38 degree till June 21st!

Seems like the whole city is inside an oven so how to relax after busy working for the whole week? Let us show you some secret places in the suburbs with less crowd and beat the heat at the same time. Enjoy a 25-degree weekend!

Xialianggong夏凉宫

Literally “summer, cool, palace’. The average temperature here in summer is 21.7degree, 8 degree lower than in the city. The altitude here is 700 – 1700 meters. Located at Labagou Scenic Forest Resort, Huairou District, away from the city, the scenery here is stunning and the air is fresh and cool.

What’s cool is the hotel here is in Chinese quadrangle style.

Due to the altitude here, diurnal amplitude here is large. Better put on more clothes at night.

Here also have the biggest White Birch Forest in whole China. As the center, there are 3 paths for sightseeing which are: Wulongtan五龙潭 (Five Dragons Pond), Fenghuangtai凤凰台 (Phoenix Terrace) and glacier. If you get lucky, you might get a chance to pick some Lion’s Mane Mushroom.

Cangmigudao仓米古道

The name came from that it used to be the most important path to transport the rice to the villages inside the mountain at Yanqing area. The clouds are floating around the mountain peak which just likes a wonderland. Definitely is a place to go into nature and place to avoid the burning sun.

Surrounded by mountain and river, it gave this wonderland a new name, Bailihualang百里画廊 (hundred miles of gValley), as the Chinese say “every season is like a painting”. Here it divided into 4 tiny parts:

1. Yanshantianchi燕山天池景区 (heaven lake in Yanshan Mountain)

2. Guihuamu National Geopark硅化木国家地质公园(Petrified Wood National Geopark)

3. Dishuihu滴水壶景区( Arc Waterfall)

It is the combination of waterfall and karst cave.

4. Sijihuahai四季花海(Sea of flowers of four seasons)

In 47 kilometers, there are roses, lavender, and lily and so on blossomed during May till October.

Jiudaowan九道湾

It is opposite to Miyun Reservoir, a place for adventure, camping, fishing, fruit picking and gets away from the heat.

Qiliangjie奇凉界 ( The strange boundary between cold and hot) is the most famous spot here. Walking in the wood, one step forward you will feel chilly and one step backward you will feel very hot. That’s how the name came from.

Every September till the end of October, is the harvest season here. You can get to taste the freshest fruits such as pear, apple, kiwi, persimmon, hawthorn, jujube, walnut and the famous chestnut.

Kangxi Caoyuan康西草原 (Kangxi Grassland)

Want to experience the life like the Mongolians do? Then Kangxi Grassland is the best one nearby Beijing.

The grassland is on the west side of Badaling Great Wall and is the biggest grassland in Beijing. The west side of the Grassland is the Guangting Lake and Haituo Mountain is on its north side. It also has the largest horse riding field in China and a Chinese Folk Cultural Village. During spring and summer, is the field of greens, you will see lots of cows, lambs, hares, foxes, wild ducks and swans around.

The grassland average temperature is around 8.4 degree, very chill. If you spend a night here, you can have a campfire party and BBQ.
