One of the bad thing about living in China is, no Facebook, Google, Youtube and so on.

As you may be heard that since last year, saying Chinese government will shut down VPN since last December. However, we still can see the world behind the wall till now.

But don’t get happy to fast people.

The new Chinese policy going into effect on January 11, will have a profound impact on businesses relying on Internet VPN or SD-WAN access within China.

The news, first reported by Bloomberg in July 2017, was expected to be implemented by February 2018. But just lately it was announced to be pushed from January already.

In a post titled “China to block SD-WAN and VPN traffic by Jan. 11” that was published on Network World’s contributor platform on January 5, a US-based industry professional suggested that a new policy supposedly going into effect this week would require China’s commercial Internet service providers (ISPs) to block ports commonly used to allow VPN and software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN) access.

Millions of Internet users rely on VPN to pass the Great Firewall of China. Now, the new regulations will block VPN access to unregistered services.

Let’s wait and see what will happen tomorrow.
