Tianjin (天津) is a good choice of day trip for those who want to escape the hustle of the capital city. Indeed, Tianjin is facing the Bohai Sea to its east, Yanshan Mountain to its north and is ran through by the Hai River. Visitors will feel refreshed by its cool and soft sea breeze while discovering the city.

Tianjin is the fourth largest city in China by area after Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. It is home to China’s largest artificial harbour which was already a gateway to the world for imperial China.  It is also well known for its food: seafood as well as ‘gou buli baozi’ (flour, meat and vegetables) should definitely not be missed. Nanshi Food Street is a nice place to visit during the day to savour national and regional culinary treats. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy its splendid historical background while strolling around the streets. Indeed, in the late 19th century, the city was shared by nine communities: Italy, Germany, France, Russia, Great Britain, Austria, Japan and Belgium. From this time have remained imposing residences with their national architectural styles, enhancing therefore the beauty of the area. A high speed train connects Beijing to Tianjin and the journey lasts about thirty minutes.
Getting there

Go to Beijing South Railway Station and take the high-speed railway train from Beijing South Railway Station to Tianjin station. The train is running every 10 minutes from 6:35 to 23:00.
