Beijing-Shanghai bullet trains speed up

Recently the China Railway had announced that they are planning to raise the top cruising speed of its bullet trains to 350kph.

The speed increase will go into effect around the National Day holiday (Golden Week holiday). It will start on one of the busiest lines – the Beijing – Shanghai route.

The shortest travel time on this line is currently about 4 hours and 50 minutes, after speed up, it will be limited to 4 hours and the slowest one will be controlled in 5 hours.

You can buy a train ticket via www.12306.cn (language will be in Chinese only). Foreigners just need to provide your passport number and visa information.

After purchased, passengers need to pick up the ticket at the counter with the passport.
