The China Science and Technology Museum is a massive place to explore. Five floors are packed with exciting permanent and short-term exhibitions, so make sure to bring enough time for your visit. Or better yet: plan to come multiple times. The museum was first opened in 1988, but after several phases, the latest building started operating in 2009 in its new location next to Olympic Park.

The Science Paradise on level one offers various interactive opportunities and is aimed at 3-10 year olds. But it is worth to explore the other levels as well! Level two has a introduction to Chinese Science and important inventions like gunpowder or the compass. The human body section includes giant models of body parts.

The space technology section of the China Science and Technology Museum is the most contemporary one. Try simulators for moonwalk and zero gravity, or drive in a moon car (simulator, that is). Level five explores the future challenges including global warming and such. All levels offer audio-visual and hands-on exhibits to experience science.

There is a 4D theater, one the largest Astro-vision theaters in the world. It gives you a feeling like participating in actual events rather than watching a movie.

If possible, we recommend going to the China Science and Technology Museum on a weekday, to avoid heavy crowds flooding in on weekends. This way you get to enjoy all the engaging experiments without standing in line too long.
