The Children’s House Montessori Kindergarten was the first Montessori kindergarten to open its doors in Beijing. It has seven campuses spread over Beijing, one in Hangzhou.
The campuses are equipped with indoor and outdoor playgrounds; some even feature a child-sized kitchen for cooking classes. Children are offered gym, geography, science, arts and crafts, cooking and music classes. Moreover, they can take part in various after-school clubs such as wildlife, reading and writing, board games, ballet etc.
A ‘Reception Class’ aids children in making the transition from the Montessori teaching style to a more traditional primary school environment.
The school caters currently more than 350 children from all over the world aged one up to six. Classes are made up of fifteen to thirty students with 1 teacher for 3 children at the nursery and 1 teacher for 5 children at primary.
The Children’s House is based on the Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy of education. It encourages children to learn by sensing and experiencing rather than by pure repetition. Indeed, self-motivation and independent learning are the key principles. The school aims at helping children develop a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge that will follow them throughout their lives.
